Well, where do I start? As visitors will have gathered by now, I’m Plane Crazy.

The name's Mike.  I dress in Black most of the time so I adopted the name of a Legend, the Black Stag. An old Seer once told that when a Black Stag appears in the Highlands, Scotland will gain her freedom from England. We live in hope.

No! I’m not anti English, just patriotic. My many friends South of The Border will testify to that I’m sure.

I live in the coastal town of Kirkcaldy, in the Kingdom of Fife, Scotland.

Yes - that's right, kingdom, check the above link.

BornEdinburgh in 1950.

Lived - most of my life in Fife and Perthshire.

Married - my wonderfully understanding wife Ruth in 1977

Children – seven + nine Grandchildren, and  two Great grandchildren, latest one born on 21/03/06

(For those of you trying to work out the maths, some of my children are from a previous marriage)

Trained - Furniture Construction and Design at Fife College of Further Education, (Now called The Adam Smith College)

Interests - my wife Ruth and family, visiting Cortina and Caorle in Italy, working with wood, furniture making mainly, and for almost 20 years now, collecting Antique and Vintage Woodworking Tools, especially Planes.

The majority of planes in my collection are Stanleys, (75 different numbers at last count plus various "Types" of certain models) but I do have many others including Record, Preston, Mathieson, Spiers and of course no plane collection would be complete without a Norris.

If there is anyone out there reading this that has

Every Stanley Plane Number in Your Collection or, working towards that goal –

I’d love to hear from you
