Macrome Solid Brass 151 Type Adjustable Spokeshave.

Although the Macrome is not marked 151, it is just like it’s Record and Stanley 151 counterparts but made of solid Brass, this is a very handsome Spokeshave.

Miller Falls No.1 "Cigar Shaped" Spokeshave.

The Millers Falls “Cigar Shaped” round Spokeshave is a cylindrical Nickel Plated steel tool with round Rosewood handles each end.

US Patent: 293,651, Granted: Feb. 19, 1884. Miller's Falls No 1 "Cigar" spokeshave with circular cutter and detachable handles. Design allows screws to hold blade without interference to the work.

It is marked, Millers Falls, Pat. Feb 19th 1884.

An interesting "aside line" on the Miller's spokeshave.  It was patented by Albert D. Goodell who worked for Miller's Falls Manufacturing Co. at the time. Albert D. Goodell later went on to form Goodell Bros with his brother Henry and sold his interest in the company. This company became Goodell Pratt Co when William Pratt bought out the company. Later in 1931, Goodell Pratt Co was bought out by Miller Falls completing the cycle.

Record A151 and A151R Flat Face and Round Face Spokeshaves.

Here we have a Record No.A151 and a No.A151R.  The "A" stands for Adjustable, the "R" for Round.

Here you see the Round Face (top) and the Flat Face bottoms.  There is No "R" cast in the number for the A151 Round Face as it is obvious by appearance.

Record Malleable Iron A65 Chamfer Shave

This shave has two guide fences which each have a cant of 45 degrees, both adjustable.

Most Record Spokeshaves were made from cast steel and were finished in blue but several patterns were made of Malleable Iron and these were all finished in red. The Malleable Iron models are more robust than the cast steel models and aren’t subject to breakage by abuse.
