The Stanley No.148 Double End Match Plane is 9" long
and has two seperate cutters. One for Ploughing a Groove, the other for cutting
a Tongue. This is a Type 1.
Another curious plane from Stanley for doing Match or Tongue & Groove work.
There are two blades, one cuts a groove when the plane is pushed in one direction,
the other cuts the tongue when the plane is turned round and used in the
opposite direction.
This is a great plane to use. Tongue & Groove joints are produced quickly and
easyily with it.
The
Type 1 has the Patent Date Jan. 20 - 03 on the handle and the old style Ribbed
Cap Screw.

This image shows the seperate cutters.
This is a type 2. Standard knurled
Cap Screws are now used and there is no Patent Date.
Both Types 1 and 2 have 7/8 Inch cast on their handles.
Another fairly scarce plane in
the UK with the two smaller sizes being scarcest.
