This plane was Advertised by Stanley as “Seven Planes in One”

The Stanley No.45 was initially 10 ½" long, 11 ½", 1897 and later.

This is a fine example of a Type 8 made between 1907-1908.
Complete with full set of 20 cutters and original finger jointed chestnut box.
All parts marked with B casting mark. It has a Type 1 Cam stop.
(The B casting mark denotes a foundry used by Stanley. Planes are also
found with an S casting mark.)

It still retains the Floral Pattern until Type 9.

Only 20 cutters were offered with planes from 1896 - 1909.
Earlier Types came with only 18 cutters.
1910 - 1920 saw 21 cutters supplied and in 1921 this was increased to 22.
Finally, in 1922 a 23rd cutter was furnished.
