Made in 2 styles. No.98 for Right Hand work and No.99 for Left Hand work.
The Stanley No.98 and No.99 are a very handy pair for Side
Rabbet work, left and right.
They are
4” Long with a 1/2" wide cutter and are Nickel Plated Cast Iron with Rosewood
Knobs.
Convenient for side-rabbeting in trimming dados, mouldings and grooves.
A reversible nose-piece allows it to work up close into corners.
These two are a Type 1 and a Type 1a and have the Patent Date, Jan.29.95
stamped in the toe piece.
Type 1 has an "S" casting mark and was made between 1896 &
1903.
The
1a has a "B" casting mark and was made between 1904 and 1909.
Neither of them have provision for a depth stop. This didn't appear till
Type 3a in 1929.
These two are from later models. The No.99 is a Type 3a, Sweetheart, made
between 1929 and 1935.
The No.98 is a Type 4, made between 1935 and 1942.
